The Texas Triathlon Camp Staff includes:
JOE FRIEL - Internationally acclaimed coach and author of the Triathlete's Training Bible. Joe is the "Master of Periodization" and integrated training. (Joe Friel's Training Bible website, TrainingPeaks.com web site ). Joe will focus on topics ranging from cycling skills to triathlon training and periodization.
JOHN COBB - Foremost expert on aerodynamics of cycling, fitter to Lance Armstrong and many pro triathletes and cyclist, John will teach techniques developed in the wind-tunnel to demonstrate first-hand his breakthrough theories on the optimal aeroposition for time trials and longer triathlon bike courses. He will also introduce some of his pioneering work with new saddles, forks, aerobars and wheels at Blackwell Research.
TOM RODGERS -
Camp director, certified USAT and head of TrainingBible Coaching for North Texas with Joe Friel, top-ranked masters triathlete, Multiple Ironman Hawaii, Ironman Europe and Ironman North America events veteran, podium Ultraman and Ultracycling finisher, solo RAAM ultracyclist, and age-group All-American. Author of The Perfect Distance: The Triathlete's Guide to Long-Course Training (cover right). Tom trained NASA astronauts for long-term spaceflight before specializing in endurance coaching. (Tom Rodger's Endurathon.com web site), including power measurement before and after spaceflight. He has been involved with power training since its inception in the 1990s and the original SRM and PowerTap devices. His superior knowledge of mathematics, engineering and software will be combined with real-world experience coaching triathletes using a power meter for training, plus his own experience racing Ironmans from Hawaii to England with analyzed power curves. He will cover use of the latest power training software and techniques from TrainingPeaks, CyclingPeaks, and WKO+ as created by Hunter Allen and Andrew Coggan. And get special tips on the realibility (and unrealiability) of various power-meter hardware manufacturers.
CHUCK BURR -Chuck has that rare combination of nationally ranked swim competition and strong triathlon coaching experience. He will be teaching you how to create the "most requested item" of triathlon swimmers: the underwater swim video analysis. Most triathletes have never seen themselves swim, but would pay dearly to do so. Also included are his tips on better communication with triathlon swimmers and their unique needs. Chuck's experience includes: United States Olympic Swimming Trials Qualifier (1980). Five-time United States Swimming National Championship qualifier. Currently ranked top 10 in US Masters Swimming. All-Southwest Conference Swimmer (1977-79). Completed 11 marathons, numerous triathlons and open water swimming events since 1988. Ironman Wisconsin (2006) and Ironman CDA (2008) Triathlon finisher.
